Zero Youth Detention (ZYD) is a program of Public Health — Seattle & King County and our goal is to reduce the amount of youth sent to secure detention.
Research shows that youth have a better chance at positive adulthood when they don’t interact with the juvenile legal system. Zero Youth Detention collaborates with youth, families, employees, businesses, system partners, and anyone wanting to make their communities safe.
ZYD believes all youth in King County deserve a positive community so they can thrive as adults. This program is committing its efforts into creating communities where residents feel safe and are free from systemic oppression and marginalization.
